During the 2024 wildfire season, Honduras experienced record-breaking temperatures that disrupted water cycles and prolonged the dry season. The combined challenges of drought and extreme heat led to a crisis affecting over 294,000 hectares nationwide, including the Olancho and Francisco Morazan departments where Eden works.

Across Eden’s global network of projects, wildfires are some of the most damaging and difficult challenges we face. These fires not only endanger people and biodiversity but also risk undermining years of hard-won restoration work by degrading intact landscapes and forests.

Eden Reforestation Projects is pleased to announce the appointment of Bryan Adkins to the role of CEO following the retirement of the founder Dr. Steve Fitch earlier this year. Bryan has been serving as the CEO of Compassionate Carbon LLC, Eden’s subsidiary organization, since its inception in 2021, and will now provide leadership to the whole organization.
